When you come before the Lord in your iniquity and sin and acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of the living God and that He died for your sin, rose in the third day and sits at the right hand of God, you arrive at the meeting of God’s firstborn children. This becomes the time to listen carefully when God speaks and He will speak to you.

The Old Testament is full of people who refused to listen to God and either suffered greatly or were lost forever. Now that Jesus speaks to us from heaven and we have the Holy Spirit to guide us, how much worse will it be for those who refuse to heed His voice?

Hebrews 12:26-29: When he spoke before, his voice shook the earth. But now he has promised, “Once again I will shake the earth, but I will also shake heaven.” The words “once again” clearly show us that everything that was created will be destroyed–that is, the things that can be shaken. And only what cannot be shaken will remain. So we should be thankful because we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And because we are thankful, we should worship God in a way that will please him. We should do this with respect and fear, because our God is like a fire that can destroy us.
