Last night we went to our granddaughter’s high school graduation, got there 3 and ½ hours early to get a good seat and waited 3 hours in the scorching heat to be rained on and then suffered through an hour and a half delay. We grabbed some McDonald’s at 1 AM and went to bed at around 1:45 AM. As we drifted off to sleep, we both thought “What a good day”.

Our expectations for the day were that the Lord would provide all of our needs. Little did we know that He, in His infinite wisdom, decided that we needed more family time, that we needed to spend time in an uncomfortable situation so we could encourage one another.

We saw, and talked at some length with Abbey’s other grandparents and met the boyfriend of our middle granddaughter. There was some anger, some laughter and some genuine bonding.

Our Lord has a lesson in mind for us each and every day of our lives. Our difficult circumstances are there for us so we can receive joy from the Lord and share that joy with others. Anytime we are tested, anytime our plans fail is a good time to thank God.

Yes, it was a very good day yesterday.
