As we have worked each project that we have been involved in, one theme stands out. In stark contrast to the world, each group of NOMADS is comprised of people who are dedicated to the concept of loving their neighbors, their family or friends, their fellow believers or church members and even non-believers. They adhere to the concept of loving your enemies and doing good to those who spitefully use you. Now we, who are followers of Jesus and children of God, know where this love comes from. It is part of the fruit that we bear as followers of Christ.

But, there is more to the story. We need to be prepared to defend ourselves against the evil in this world and further, we need to be ready to help others in their times of trial. Even when we are in the presence of fellow journeymen, following the lead of Jesus, we must be aware of the wiles of satan. We must listen to the word of the Lord as written by Paul to the Ephesians.

In Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV) Paul wrote: ‘Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.’

Attacks from the evil one may come at any time, in any place and from unlikely sources. They may be obvious or subtle, but rest assured that when you are doing the will of God, when you are working for His glory, attacks will come.

As this project ends and we move forward in our journey, Linda and I have been spiritually renewed and our lives enriched with new friendships and most importantly, new insights into this spiritual journey that we are all on.
